Detailed guide for SPN 100 FMI 2
Back to top ↑What SPN 100 FMI 2 means
SPN 100 identifies engine oil pressure. FMI 2 means the reported oil-pressure data is erratic, intermittent or incorrect.
This FMI often points toward signal quality rather than proving that actual engine oil pressure is mechanically low or high.
Diagnostic approach
Inspect the oil-pressure sensor connector for corrosion, loose terminals, damaged pins and oil contamination.
Check the wiring between the sensor and ECM. Monitor live oil-pressure data while inspecting or gently moving the harness for an intermittent connection.
Compare the electronic reading with actual oil pressure using the manufacturer's approved diagnostic procedure.
Do not replace major lubrication-system components until actual pressure has been verified.
