Detailed guide for SPN 100 FMI 17
Back to top ↑What SPN 100 FMI 17 means
SPN 100 identifies engine oil pressure. FMI 17 indicates a valid pressure reading below the normal operating range at the least severe level.
Some engine applications use this condition as part of an engine-protection strategy. If pressure continues to fall or remains below the required threshold, more severe warnings, derate or shutdown protection can follow.
What to check first
Check engine oil level and condition and inspect for leakage.
Compare the ECM oil-pressure value with the manufacturer's specification for the current engine speed and temperature. Verify actual pressure mechanically when required.
If actual pressure is normal, diagnose the sensor and electrical circuit. If actual pressure is low, investigate the lubrication system rather than repeatedly clearing the fault.
Always use the OEM pressure specification because thresholds vary between engine families.
